Keep Telling Their Story: Photographing Your Child's Story Into Adulthood | AMG Photography
So many families rush to take photos of their kids when they are babies and toddlers and then running around on the playground through elementary school. But then, they seem to stop. The IPhone recordings seem to only be reserved for those occasional school concerts. I believe that your family photos should extend beyond when your kiddos are little and should extend to when they are adults. Your story continues with them and the memories never cease.
With all the busyness of life, how do you go about preserving these images? 1) Preserve your day to day story with your phone. The newest phones have incredible cameras. Use portrait mode on your Iphone and change the fstop (upper right hand corner) to a lower number in order to get amazing depth of field (that beautiful blurry background). 2) Annual Professional Family Photos. Make the investment. Not for your Christmas card, but for the art in your home, on your walls, on your desk. Carry your memories with you from year to year, don’t hide them on a computer. Invest in professional framed prints, coffee table books, or photo boxes so your images are always accessible. Every collection I offer now has prints. I believe this is the most important investment you can make for your family.
When my girls look at their photo books, they are transported back in time. They are able to relive the times when they are little and see how much they have grown today. Their story doesn’t end, but it travels with them and we will continue to preserve that story until they begin to write their own.
