Family Photos: Let’s Get Real
As a family photographer, I get many requests for photos to be used for Holiday Cards. I totally get this and I love to share images of my family, too! However, what I challenge you to think about today is what you want those images to look like. Is there beauty only in everyone smiling and looking into the camera and saying cheese? Maybe, to a certain extent, but it is my goal for you to see the beauty beyond the pose. To truly see the beauty of what family is all about. I really think that this will take a lot of the stress out of having your family pictures taken. Seriously! The number one stress for moms is getting their kiddos to sit still and smile at the camera. Ok moms, what if you could let all of this with its expectations go? What if your photo session could be one in which you were, well, simply being a family and all that it entails?: squirmy kiddos who just want to run, the occasion sibling argument, maybe a few tears, and, often lots and lots of laughter. What if you could put all of the stress aside and just be and then allow your photographer capture the moment and the essence of who you are? It not only becomes personal, but. I would say, incredibly valuable and beautiful. When you approach your family portraits as an opportunity to create “Memory Art”, you are given so much more than a Christmas card photo. You receive moments preserved in time: the way your little boy’s grin always goes a little bit sideways, the wispiness of your little girl’s hair that always seems to get in her eyes, your kiddos dirty little toes from playing in the grass, her sassy grin before she does something mischievous to her little brother, or simply the way your kiddos hug you so tightly you could burst! These are irreplaceable memories. These are the things that I want to give you in your next photo session!
