Family Portrait Sessions Can be Fun for Dads Too
Happy Father’s Day to you all! Family picture day can be a hard day for dads. Often they hate getting their photo taken! I want to tell all dads, it’s okay! I totally get it. This is why I have designed my family and newborn portrait sessions to be as easy on dad as possible. How do I do this? Let’s take it in steps:
Styling: Comfortable and True to Him
Dads should be able to be comfortable and be themselves! This starts with what they wear. I have created a Styling Page for every client which not only shows you good colors and examples of what to wear, but it is also has dads in mind! My only rule is that dads cannot wear tennis shoes. What they can wear is endless: comfortable clothing, relaxed jeans or khakis, neutral colors, and neutral colored shoes, and you’re all set!
Session Day: Relaxed, Fun, and Stress Free
We start each session with a few posed photos and then my families get to laugh, play, and relax with one another. Dads get to be free to throw kiddos up in the air, play tag, or have a good wrestling match. It’s all about loving on your kids and having fun! Of course, we have to throw in a few cuddles and kisses, too, but you get the idea.
Session Time: Not Rushed, But Not an Eternity
Gone are the days of stressful, rushed mini sessions. Now I focus on Full Sessions in which families can come to their session relaxed at a location that is picked just for them. We get the posed images out of the way and then spend time just capturing the beauty and chaos of your family. These sessions usually last up to an hour and families leave feeling happy, tired, and content!
Capturing What it Is to Be a Dad
Most importantly, Dads are amazed at what they receive from these sessions. They see the love they have for their kiddos before them preserved forever in photographs. Some of them, even the tough ones, even might shed a few joyful tears from that! So, God bless you to all the Dads. You are so loved!
